DCS Receives EcoVadis “Committed” Sustainability Rating, Marking Key ESG Initiative Milestone
Rating establishes a benchmark for DCS’s sustainability program and provides a foundation for continuous improvement toward its 2040 net-zero commitment.
Franklin, Tenn. – July 28, 2026 – Designed Conveyor Systems (DCS), a leading material handling systems integrator, today announced it has received its first EcoVadis sustainability rating — “Committed” — following the company’s submission of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data earlier this year. The rating marks an important early milestone in DCS’s broader sustainability initiative, launched in March 2026 to benchmark the company’s environmental impact and establish a long-term pathway toward emissions reduction.
EcoVadis is a global sustainability assessment platform used by procurement teams and supply chain leaders to evaluate ESG performance across four key themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Ratings provide organizations and their business partners with a standardized view of sustainability maturity relative to industry peers.
“Receiving our first EcoVadis rating gives us a clear, external benchmark of where we stand today,” said DCS Sustainability Manager Marty Grady. “This isn’t the finish line — it’s a data point that tells us exactly where to focus our efforts as we build out our sustainability program.”
A Foundational Baseline, Not a Destination
DCS’s initial rating reflects the early stage of its formal sustainability program, which was established in 2026 as the company’s first dedicated sustainability function. Because DCS integrates automation systems rather than manufacturing equipment directly, much of its environmental footprint sits within its supplier ecosystem — a dynamic the company is factoring into its improvement plans.
“This first assessment is a starting point,” Grady said. “We fully expect our rating to improve as our programs around supplier engagement, emissions transparency, and documentation mature.”
DCS’s EcoVadis submission complements its ongoing carbon footprint benchmarking, which is being conducted in alignment with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the world’s most widely used standard for measuring and managing greenhouse gas emissions. Together, the two efforts give DCS both emissions data and broader ESG visibility as it builds out its sustainability roadmap.
Next Steps Toward Improvement
With a baseline rating now established, DCS plans to focus on the specific improvement areas identified through the EcoVadis evaluation process, including:
- Formalizing sustainable procurement policies and supplier codes of conduct.
- Expanding documentation of environmental management practices.
- Strengthening policies and reporting related to labor, human rights, and business ethics.
- Improving emissions transparency across project delivery activities.
- Preparing for future EcoVadis re-assessment to track measurable progress over time.
Grady noted that improving the rating will require the same collaborative approach DCS has emphasized since launching its sustainability initiative.
“Progress on ESG performance doesn’t happen in a vacuum,” he said. “It comes from working closely with our suppliers and partners so that our practices — and theirs — continue to mature together.”
Supporting Customer Sustainability Objectives
As more of DCS’s customers build ESG criteria into their procurement and vendor evaluation processes, an independently verified EcoVadis rating gives them a standardized reference point for assessing DCS as a partner. The company expects this transparency to become increasingly valuable as customers across commercial and industrial sectors expand their own sustainability reporting requirements.
“This rating is a helpful signal to our customers that we’re serious about this work and willing to be measured on it,” Grady said. “We look forward to showing improvement in future assessments as our program matures.”
